My Hair, Oh the Changes In My Hair!

I’ve talked about my hair before but as it’s growing out in seeing some interesting things happening. The most striking piece is how the texture of my hair has changed as it’s grown out.

  • It’s kind of curly on the ends – it was not unexpected, as both my grandmother’s and her twin’s hair came back in curly after they went through chemo
  • I have stripe in the hair that didn’t fall out. I was not eating for 8 weeks when I was in the hospital and it shows up in my hair as a lighter section
  • The new hair is darker! This one was a bigger surprise
  • Now that my hair is growing back, I have a few more grey hairs than I did before

It’s odd that I never really realized how much I loved my hair until it all fell out. I had long, thin and dense hair, then I didn’t. It’s hard to see at this size but the start of my stripe is right in the middle of that image.

hair texture changeI have to say that as I was worrying about getting my hair grown back and/or trying to figure out how to deal, the Corner of Hope and Mane site really helped me a lot. Not only did the author help me learn about wig care but also about living with a new scalp reality and talking about how it impacts a woman.
