Groundwork Coffee Tin

Groundworks Coffee

I’m a little snobby about coffee, I think I’ve mentioned it before… Mornings are just not my thing. I tend to be more than a little grouchy and not much will keep from it except “hot bean juice,” as my husband calls coffee. One of my favorite coffee places in LA, is Groundwork.

I have a few local coffee shops I like but Groundwork is one that’s only a few blocks from my place in Downtown. The downtown, arts district store is super industrial and loft like in its decor. The staff is almost always friendly and quick. I vaguely remember one of the guys I worked with at Disney fawn all over their coffee a million year ago but I don’t remember why he liked it.

I’ve been buying coffee there regularly for awhile and they offer a free coffee with every pound of beans you buy. You can take advantage of the offer yourself or leave it as a “pay it forward” for someone in need. Most of the time I’m being pretty selfish cause I’m out of beans and in need of caffeine, but its awesome that they have a donation option. If I end up going in the middle of the day instead of first thing in the morning, I’ll leave my receipt.

They also have a good variety of the pastries and other food to order along with your coffee. And yes, I checked, they have Vegan options available as well. I’ve only tried their croissants and they were quite flaky and yummy.

Their coffee is certified organic – which might be important for some but not so much for me. Does it taste good, yes? I’m cool. They have a few types of tea that I really want to try as well but I have not had a chance yet.

Their logo is a crossed spoon and shovel – which I think is a nice touch.
