Purse dilemma

I have a real issue with purses... Remember when I posted about them here? Well I went in the oakley store near me and looked at them in real life - they are lacking in pockets.

why does this matter?

Because I carry a camera and am thinking about purchasing a tripod for said camera, as well as some lenses. and my current purse just doesn't have any good organization. Dont' get em wrong, I love my current purse, it's travelled to two foreign countries, saved me from having to haul everything in my book bag (unlike my tokidoki purse), and just generally been cool.

BUT essentially it's just a zippered tote bag.

Another problem is that I want orange - seriously obnoxious orange. Have you ever tried to look for a specific color of hand bag? It's impossible.

Another problem.... I want something more girlie. Nothing with decent pocket space is girlie and Husband keeps pointing me to messanger bags and camera bags, none of which look girlie. I shudder to think that I might have to resort to looking at DIAPER bags to get girlie and pockets (I found what seemed to be perfect orange bag on etsy, but it WAS a diaper bag). I swear I won't do that, but they seem to be all I can find with the right color or amount of girlie-ness.

This one looks like a maybe but I HATE HATE HATE turqouise. Apparently I was traumatized living in Texas by everything being available in turqoise .

What's a girl to do? anyone have any ideas?

K24 - not so much

Apparently, Kitchen 24 no longer serves the gingerbread pancakes. I'm so sad - I have to make my husband make them now, since I'm a such a suck cook.

The service wasn't great and I was soooo disappointed that they didn't have gingerbread pancakes. BUT - it's better than Denny's or IHOP at 3 in the morning.

omelettry

I don't miss much about Texas other than my family, but this is one of those places that I miss. I can't find gingerbread pancakes in LA anywhere.

...and I miss the chicken paintings that hang on the wall... If I ever go back, I buying one, I swear. I love this place. It's dirty and greasy and your wait staff looks questionable - they are really nice - BUT look like they eat their young in punk rock sort of way.

UPDATE!!

I think I may have found a restaurant in LA that has them - Kitchen 24 on Cahuenga.

happiness

I walked to the grocery store to pick up something for lunch today and stopped in my local thrift store. They generally have really cool vintage craft and sewing supplies, but I came across one lucky find, a little display box. I also picked up some vintage hook and eyes.

...And here are the cute shoes I purchased with previously mentioned gift card from the Parental Units. I love them - but I wish they didn't say "michelle K" all over them. Going to have to find a crafty way to cover that up. they make me happy because I think they are officially broken in and are EXCELLENT for biking.

Bonbonkakku

Wow! This is a really neat idea

Bonbonkakku is like Threadless for fabric, but holy cow they are expensive @_@ my eyes were googling out at the price per meter!! AND you HAVE to buy at least 1 repeat which on these is generally 1-3 meters.

the prices I looked at were 25€ per metre. Now - if you do the exchange rate US dollars - that's over $50 for a metre of fabric. YIKES! I'm a cheap skate and would only buy fabric if it was mine OR it was exactly perfect for what I wanted to use it for (and had already done a bunch of pattern rough drafts in crap fabric).

Knot Ugly Shrug

I finished my first project from the Happy Hooker book the other day.

I used Red Heart worsted weight yarn in black. My only modifications to the pattern were to NOT do all four rows of trim - I only did two because I was running out of yarn.

Check it out:

tile pendant

The latest creation from the spare room:

Made with:

* 1 bamboo tile taken from a place mat (I have a ton of these tiles since I pulled the place mat apart)
* 1 vintage letter circa 1941 - date and location stamp from the envelope
* 3 watch gears
* acrylic gel medium (matte)
* clear nail polish as varnish

now if I could only decide what I wanted to do with it! Bracelet, earrings, make a match and a pair of earrings, just add a pin back?? no idea...
